July 4 on 4

Each month I post my favorite four images from the previous month. Usually I do this as part of a blog circle but this month I let the 4th slip up on me without writing up a post. This summer is just zooming past. So I guess as they say - better late than never, right? Here are 4 of my favorite images from the last month. We haven't been many places, mostly stayed at and around our farm in Alpine, TN.

Last week it was unbelievably nice weather for June in Middle Tennessee. The humidity was super low and the temperature was only in the low 80's. Even I could comfortably be outside - I prefer cooler weather and tend to melt in the sun lol. So Wade wanted to go to the local ballpark and ride his bicycle then go to the new park in Livingston, TN and play in the fountains. I couldn't choose just 4 images though, but I guess that is ok since this is being posted on July 5th, right?

This past month was full of changes. I have finally started to get back into photography.  I find myself looking for yet another job. But I am ok with that, I have absolutely no idea what I might be able to do though. I just know that it turned out that where I was at, was not the right place for me. I finally got brave enough to start a knitting podcast. That first episode sat on my iPad for two weeks before I was brave enough to actually post it lol.

Since I am not working, my new job is to keep a watch on our cattle so my son and I have been doing that. Starting this weekend I really want to get better at documenting our lives again, I have almost no photos from this past winter. But it will be ok, I can start doing better now. So finally, here's my fav 4 images from this month.

I didn't end up shooting many images this winter. I don't know why, but I just haven't been motivated to shoot images or share them. I think a lot of it is the time commitment that editing sharing takes. I just haven't wanted to be stuck behind the computer that much. So for this month I will share mostly Easter images. I always like to get a decent Easter photo of the family (or at least my son & myself) after church. This year I managed to get a family photo as well, but unfortunately the dog walked through one and I look horrible in the other, but I am showing it on here anyway. Our dog thinks he has to follow me everywhere so he ended up in the photos as well, but that is ok.

This one is my favorite!

Family Lifestyle Session

A couple months ago I had the opportunity to get some family photos of the cutest family ever. I went to their house in Cookeville, TN for this lifestyle newborn session. I really enjoy these types of sessions as I love getting images that capture the love and joy of a family.

Winter Knitting

This winter I have picked up interest in knitting again. I love all things crafty so am always trying to learn new things. Several years ago I learned to knit by watching YouTube videos and reading online tutorials. I have mostly made hats and I love the knitted hats I have made. Especially after I discovered how amazing merino wool and alpaca yarns are! I mean seriously, they are awesome yarns and make knitting soooooo much fun.

Last month I decided to start knitting socks. This winter has been pretty disappointing if you like cold weather (like me). It has been spring practically all year! Not fun if you love wearing sweaters, sweatshirts, and knit hats. So I decided to try socks. And let me tell you, sock knitting is so freaking addictive. I really think I may have a bit of a problem, but I don't care. I am currently on my 3rd pair of socks and am already thinking of my 4th pair (& 5th, 6th, & so on :)).

Pair number 1 - cascade yarns Heritage Prints on size 3.00 addi turbo sock rockets. I started with 2 circulars then decided on just using one 40" circular. Knitting 2 at a time.

Pair 2 - cascade yarns Heritage Wave in checkers. On size 2.5mm addi turbo rockets. Again 2 at a time on long circular. Pattern by The Knitting Expat. The gravel socks from the beyond vanilla collection 1. Love this pattern and can't wait to try the others in that collection.

Last month flew by, but I am finding myself very happy with my life. I haven't been photographing many things this winter. I feel like I needed a bit of a break from photography. Some time to sort of recharge and refuel my creativity.

Right after the new year, knitting started calling to me again and I have spent a lot of time this winter knitting. My newest obsession is knitting socks, I love knitting socks and it has been really taking a lot of my time for the past few weeks. Look for a knitting post sometime soon.

Here are some favorites images from this past month. Thanks for looking.

Nature Photography - Winter 2017 - Tennessee Photographer

Last month was a whirlwind of emotions and self discovery. I have laughed and cried and still haven't gotten everything figured out. Maybe I never will. But I have decided that that is ok.

I rediscovered the joy of Lensbaby and macro during the winter. It is so calming and reminds me that even in the dead of winter, there's still beauty all around us.

Each month a group of photographers post their favorite 4 images from the previous month. Be sure to check out the other posts starting with Lisa.

January was an odd month for me. It came with lots of emotional ups and downs (mostly downs) but I have a feeling February is going to be tons better :). Thanks for looking.

We took a walk around the field one Saturday and it was so nice to get out and enjoy nature.

A little game of hide and seek in the woods.

We did have a great snow day early last month.

I then rediscovered how much fun winter macro is. Especially with the Lensbaby.

January 4 on 4

Last month was very busy. Finishing up school for the semester and getting ready for Christmas. Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. I have fallen behind on photography in the past month. Sometimes a break is needed in order to recharge and find your passion. I hope 2017 will be my year of growth and finding myself in my art. Enjoy these memories from 2016 and be on the lookout for my yearly reflection post.

Another month has flew by. This one, not as inspiring as the previous one. Actually this month has had a lot of challenges with work and, as usual, I let that affect my personal life way more than it should. I love my life, but I don't always love my job. Hopefully this month will be better.

Now on to my favorite 4 images from this month.

This first one was taken while we were helping daddy feed cattle. It turns out that feed bags are a really good place to lay down.

The second image was taken on a day that it finally got cold here. This fall has been the hottest fall I can remember. My husband and I made this great swing from a pallet. I still have to fix a cushion for it, but I love this swing. I may need another one.

One evening I noticed the sunlight looked really neat, so I wanted a quick picture of my son. He decided we both needed a few pictures. Here is one of those images. Yes, my clothes look awful, but it is ok.

And lastly, on November 30 it had finally rained. We have had a severe drought here in Tennessee and we were so glad to finally see the rain. On Wednesday I got home just in time to run in and grab my camera for a shot of these amazing clouds and sunset.

November 4-on-4

The past month has been awesome! So many wonderfully ordinary things to show you all. It has been way too long since I participated in a blog circle, so I will explain it again. Each month the ladies in this awesome blog circle put together a post of their favorite 4 images from the past month. So be sure to follow this link to Elizabeth Davis and then click on through to the rest of the posts.

We had an amazing trip to Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains during fall break. You can read more about that in this blog post.

Engagement - Family Session

Somehow I totally thought I had already blogged this session. This is one of my favorite sessions. We met up at my grandparents house in Alpine, TN for this family & engagement session. This little family is awesome! And that little girl is so stinking cute and friendly. Plus, these two are just awesome together! I could just feel the pure happiness and love they have for each other. I am so excited to be shooting their wedding in March.

Fall Family Session

I had the pleasure of meeting this awesome family a couple of weeks ago. We met in Alpine, TN for a family photography session. They had the cutest little one, but he did not want to have his picture taken at all. We still managed to get lots of great photos.
