For fall break this year we decided to take a short trip up to Pigeon Forge, TN. We (I) also wanted to take a drive through the Smoky Mountain National Park and Gatlinburg TN. I love mountains. Any mountains really. That's one of the things I love so much about living in the Upper Cumberland area of Middle Tennessee.
While on our vacation we played a lot of mini golf and rode a lot of Go Karts. These are the two main reasons my son wanted to go there in the first place. Two years ago we had taken him for the first time and he remembered the mini golf and the Go-Karts.
While in the Smoky Mountain National Park we decided to take a hike to Laurel Falls. This is actually the only the second time I have hiked in the Smoky Mountains. Way back when I was little we did walk up to Clingman's Dome. Laurel Falls was really nice, it has been super dry this fall so there wasn't a lot of water in the waterfall.
We also had a picnic lunch at the Chimney Tops picnic area and went exploring in the river afterwards. My son loved getting to climb on all the rocks in the river.
Back in Gatlinburg we stopped at the Ole Smoky Distillery to listen to the band (and we may have tasted some moonshine while there). It also seems to be a tradition for us to eat at the Mellow Mushroom in Gatlinburg.
And the last day we stopped in at the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge to have a look around. I met a super nice lady there who offered to take our picture, so I am actually in a family photo lol.
And, can't forget about the cell phone pics.
